Exceptional Apache Painted Hide Bag

This bag is one of the best we have owned. Note the early and still very vibrant painted design on both back and front. It is all brain tanned heavily ochred hide. Some twisted fringe. The bag is in fabulous condition as it has been in a collection for a long time.
This piece has an accompanying tag which reads "Made by Indian. Bought from one of the 400 Arizona Indians imprisoned in old Fort at St. Augustine. Was in St. Ausgustine in 1877. This was hanging from Indian belt. I paid $1.00 for it. ? W. Clark. I was told this Indian had many scalps to his credit"
6" X 8" including fringe
