Otter Medcine Effigy Ladle
Sioux Otter Medicine Effigy Ladle
12" L
Circa 1820-1850
Price: Please call the gallery for further information
The otter looking back from the spoon is symbolic in that the otter was viewed as having speed and the ability to easily escape its captors. It is unusual to see this type of carving on a ladle, as they are usually reserved for pipe bowls.

Chtimacha Double Woven Basket
This is a nice old double weave with great color and patina. I would date it between 1910-1930. The pattern is a variation of "Worm Tracks". The basket is in wonderful condition with a tiny bit of corner damage at two bottom corners...very minimal.
